Scope:
The tourism sector is information intensive and has become one of the most important engines of economic growth for many countries. With the evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), new opportunities have arisen for a reengineering in the way the various tourism and hospitality industries interact with tourists. Equally, new possibilities open to the entities that vision to promote the patrimony and endogenous products of their regions. ICT are today one of the most critical areas for the success of tourism and how tourist destinations can be promoted. Tourists, increasingly a digital generation, expect that the access to information and services be done in an innovative, immersive and contextualized way, through the use of technologies that are embedded in their daily lives.
In this industry context, the integration of ICT in the tourism is an essential element for the success of any tourism enterprise. ICT provide access to information of tourism products from anywhere and at any time. Tour companies may also reach out to target customers around the world through a series of emerging technologies.
Accordingly, with this workshop we intend to raise a deep scientific analysis on the use of innovative models and technologies in the tourism and regional development context, enhancing the development of regions, promoting cultural education, the promotion of material and immaterial heritage and business in order to leverage the competitiveness and cohesion of territories, especially those of low density.
