Scope
We have witnessed the exponential growth of smart devices and their impact on citizens and businesses. These devices have transformed, and continue to transform, the way we identify ourselves, communicate with each other, purchase products or manage our daily lives. The widespread use of these devices has been contributing to the advancement of various industries/sectors, and today there is a variety of use cases, applications, and verticals (smart cities, healthcare, manufacturing and industries, transportation and logistics, agriculture and farming, among others). Nowadays, they play an important role in our lives and in almost every area of business. IoT verticals contribute to leverage the development of new and innovative applications, changing the way information systems are developed and how they are used to support decision-making processes.
This workshop intends to promote and collect contributions of researchers from different scientific and technical fields and viewpoints addressing new applications or techniques with applicability for IoT Verticals. The purpose is to present and discuss knowledge, new perspectives, experiences and innovations in Information Systems and Technologies solutions associated to IoT verticals like smart cities, healthcare, manufacturing and industries, transportation and logistics, agriculture and farming, among others. The scope may include contributions focused on topics from edge computing to decision support systems.
We invite submission of papers describing innovative research and applications around the topics listed below. Papers that introduce new concepts or methods, help to develop a better understanding of new emerging concepts, or demonstrate a novel application of IoT methods to a specific domain (Verticals) are encouraged.
Topics of interest
The topics covered in this workshop include, but are not limited to:
AI and Machine Learning for IoT
Industry 4.0 and IoT
Real-world applications and deployments
Security and privacy
Services and applications for agriculture and farming
Services and applications for emergency management
Services and applications for healthcare
Services and applications for independent and assisted living
Services and applications for smart cities
Services and applications for forestry
Societal impacts and ethical implications
Software engineering for IoT
Software quality assurance in IoT applications
Web of Things
Other applications related to IoT verticals
Paper submission and formatting guidelines
We invite authors to submit unpublished work resulted from research that present original scientific result, methodological aspects, concepts, and approaches. Submitted work must not be under revision elsewhere. A double-blind peer review process will be followed to evaluate the submitted papers. Therefore, authors should not include on submissions names and affiliations during the reviewing phase and avoid references in the text that can identify authors. This information should only be made available in the final version of paper, upon acceptance for presentation and publication. Submissions must be of Full Paper (6 pages). Papers must be written in one of the official conference languages (English, Spanish or Portuguese) and must follow the conference format guidelines of CISTI’23: https://cisti.eu/templates.zip. Although submissions shall be made using PDF file format, camera-ready versions of the accepted papers must be delivered in MS Word format. Submissions must be done using EasyChair by choosing this Workshop (2nd Workshop on Applications for IoT verticals: From edge computing to decision support) in CISTI2023Workshops, and the appropriate link for submission will be provided in the conference website.
Publication and Indexing
To ensure that the contribution is published in the Proceedings, at least one of the authors must be fully registered. Additionally, all recommended modifications must be addressed by the authors before they submit the final version.
Workshops full papers will be published in the conference main proceedings in specific Workshop chapters. Proceedings will be submitted for indexation by WoS, SCOPUS, EI-Compendex, INSPEC and Google Scholar. Detailed and up-to-date information may be found at CISTI 2023 website: http://www.cisti.eu/.
