Scope

Digital transformation has been revolutionizing the way society in general and organizations in particular operate, making itself felt, particularly in the management of organizations and in the skills needed by professionals to carry out their functions.

In the public sector, in its different areas of activity (local administration, health, education, and also the tax authority), digitalization, as well as other technologies, have been increasingly applied, as means of reducing bureaucracy, increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of services, but also as a means of bringing organizations closer to the population they serve. We are currently witnessing a new conception of cities largely based on technology – Smart City, which combines technology with the Sustainable Development Goals. In this context, and considering:

• the strong influence of technological tools and their impact on public sector management;

• the constant requirement for professionals to adapt to the rapid and permanent evolution of technologies;

• the increasing demand for digital use by service users;

The workshop is justified within the Iberian Conference on Information Systems and Technologies scope, which constitutes a forum in which academic and professional communities can discuss, share, and disseminate knowledge about digital transformation and its impact on public sector management.
