Scope:
The tourism sector is information intensive and has become one of the most important engines of economic growth for many countries. With the evolution of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), new opportunities have arisen for a reengineering in the way the various tourism and hospitality industries interact with tourists. Equally, new possibilities open to the entities that vision to promote the patrimony and endogenous products of their regions. ICT are today one of the most critical areas for the success of tourism and how tourist destinations can be promoted. Tourists, increasingly a digital generation, expect that the access to information and services be done in an innovative, immersive and contextualized way, through the use of technologies that are embedded in their daily lives.
In this industry context, the integration of ICT in the tourism is an essential element for the success of any tourism enterprise. ICT provide access to information of tourism products from anywhere and at any time. Tour companies may also reach out to target customers around the world through a series of emerging technologies.
Accordingly, with this workshop we intend to raise a deep scientific analysis on the use of innovative models and technologies in the tourism and regional development context, enhancing the development of regions, promoting cultural education, the promotion of material and immaterial heritage and business in order to leverage the competitiveness and cohesion of territories, especially those of low density.

Description
Extensive research has been carried out to advance computational tools that support the development of smart cities. In particular, the use of data mining and machine learning techniques has become central to designing more efficient, safer, and more pleasant urban environments. For example, imagery acquired from camera networks in public spaces can be analyzed to estimate city-square occupancy in real time and to predict future usage patterns using machine learning models. Such approaches can support improved decision- making for public safety, resource allocation, and urban planning.
The main goal of the 4th Workshop on Data Mining and Machine Learning in Smart Cities (WDMMLSC 2026) is to bring together researchers working in areas such as Data Analytics, Pattern Recognition, Prediction and Simulation, Artificial Intelligence, Signal Processing, Computational Vision, Informatics, and Software Development, among others. The workshop aims to discuss current trends, identify open challenges, and outline future research directions in the context of smart and sustainable cities.
WDMMLSC 2026 welcomes contributions from academia, industry, and public entities involving fields related to Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Signal and Image Processing, Management, Architecture, Smart Cities, City Authorities, and Policy Makers. The workshop strives to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and to encourage the development of innovative solutions for more efficient, sustainable, and human-centred cities.

Workshop Format
The Information Systems and Technologies research and industrial community is invited to submit proposals of Workshops for CISTI 2026 – 21st Iberian Conference on Information Systems and Technologies to be held in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, June 17–20, 2026. Two types of Workshops may be proposed: Regular Workshops and Project Workshops.
Regular Workshops should focus on a specific scientific subject on the scope of CISTI 2026 but not directly included on the main conference areas. Each regular workshop will be coordinated by an Organizing Committee composed of, at least, two researchers in the field, preferably from different institutions and different countries. The organizers should create an international Program Committee for the Workshop, with recognized researchers within the specific Workshop scientific area. Each workshop should have at least 10 submissions and 5 accepted papers in order to be conducted at CISTI.
Project Workshops are intended to promote the dissemination and facilitate the future exploitation of EU Latin-American and national project results such as EU/Horizon, CSIC, FCT, QREN, Portugal 2020 or 2030, Fund. Gulbenkian, CYTED, CAPES, CNPq, FINEP and other Projects/funding sources. The results to be disseminated may be preliminary project results (for unfinished projects) or the project final results (for already finished projects). Each project workshop should be directly related to a Project funded in a competitive manner by a National/International Science Organization. The Workshop should be coordinated by an Organizing Committee composed by at least two researchers including the Principal Investigator of the project.
Each Workshop will have 1 article offered for 10 articles with paid registration, 2 articles offered for 20 articles with paid registration, and 3 articles offered for 40 articles with paid registration.
The selection of Workshops will be performed by CISTI 2026 Conference Chairs. Workshops full papers will be published in the conference main proceedings in specific Workshop chapters.
Proceedings will be submitted for indexation by WoS, SCOPUS, EI-Conpendex, INSPEC and Google Scholar. Detailed and up-to-date information may be found at CISTI 2026 website: http://www.cisti.eu/.
